Workshops and photography tuition

With a wealth of experience writing about photography for some of the UK's biggest selling photographic magazines and websites for over ten years now, I'm perfectly placed to show you how to get the best from your camera. Whether you're a complete novice looking to get started in photography or a more experienced photographer looking to try a new technique or refine an existing one, I'm here to help.

Beginner photography workshops

If you've just got your hands on a new DSLR or mirrorless camera, even entry-level models can seem a little daunting to get to grips with at first. It can be all too easy to leave your camera set to 'Auto' and avoid the more creative controls, especially if you're getting frustrated with shots not turning out quite how you imagined.

My 3 hour beginner photography workshops offer one-to-one tuition and are designed to give you confidence using your camera. We'll look at the cornerstones of photography, including aperture, shutter speed and ISO, exploring how they work together, which we'll then put into practice with your own camera, as well as covering a host of other settings. I'm also happy to go over any other issues you may be having with your camera, as well as offering advice on lenses and other essential accessories, so by the end of the workshop you'll not only feel much happier using your camera, but you'll be getting much better shots with it too.

Although based in Surrey, I'm happy to travel to you (depending on distance, some travel expenses may apply), or I can meet you at one of my favourite locations.

1-2-1 landscape photography workshops

These bespoke one-to-one landscape photography workshops offer you the perfect opportunity to improve and refine your craft behind the camera.

We'll cover a range of topics including planning, equipment, camera settings, filtration, framing and composition, but the itinerary and content can be tailored to suit your needs and experience, while we can focus in on a particular interest to ensure you get the most from the day.

To ensure we get the best light (weather permitting), workshops include either a sunrise or sunset shoot depending on the location and last about 6 hours. If you prefer, the course can be divide between shooting and image processing, where we can explore what's required when editing an image.

Workshops can be run in some of my favourite locations across Surrey, Kent and Sussex, or for something a bit further afield, Suffolk as well.
